What Is CHSSWeb?

The CHSSWeb system is a multiple-site content management and hosting system designed for higher education web sites. It provides easy-to-use tools and leverages authoritative university data sources to allow departments, programs and centers to maintain their own web sites. The CHSSWeb team works with site owners, contacts, and editors, providing the training, support, and consulting you need to get the best use out of your sites.

Maintain Your Own Site

You don't need to call a programmer when you want to make a change to your site. You can do it yourself. If you're an editor, just log in with your standard university username. If you know how to fill out a form in a web browser (spoiler alert: you do) you're on your way to updating your site. You don't even need to be a site editor: all faculty and staff can edit their own bios, including any course sections they're teaching.

Get Help When You Need It

The CHSSWeb team members view themselves as your partners. We do not view our job as "supporting CHSSWeb" but rather as supporting you. We provide the training you need to use the CHSSWeb system, along with the support and advice you need to use it well.

See the events section of this site for upcoming training sessions, or call us to find a time that fits your schedule. If you have a question about any aspect of your site, get in touch and we will help.

Also, please consider scheduling a day of beauty with us at least once each year.

Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

CHSSWeb imports data from the catalog, the schedule of classes, and other authoritative university data sources, then lets you build on that data to provide your students, potential students, and alumni with the best information possible. Your program requirements stay in sync with the catalog while you use student and alumni profiles, program descriptions, and cross-linked course sections and faculty bios to present a full picture of what makes your programs distinct.

Tell Your Students’ Stories

When you have a story to tell, write it. (That's the hard part.) Then get it on your site, add it to your homepage, and ask other editors to put it on their sites. You can do all of this within CHSSWeb. The system provides easy cross-site sharing of articles, events, people (faculty, staff, and graduate student bios), student profiles, and other content. It also provides an easy way to notify other editors that you have an article that should be on their site.

Make Informed Decisions

Is your site doing what you want it to do? Is it reaching the right people? What works and what doesn't? Ask the CHSSWeb team for access to your site's analytics and for help using that information.
